ishmael comes for a visit

on his way out of town for thanksgiving break, little brother cameron made a stop at our house while waiting for his ride (little sister maura). being gone for the week requires bringing home his pet gecko, ishmael. much to the children's delight, he made his home in our bathroom for a few hours today.

24 hour distraction

overheard

while sleeping off the remainder of last night's tylenol pm (the only way i can sleep through the pain and unproductive contractions at night- even if the medicine does make me nauseated, jittery, and groggy all at the same time), the sounds of arguing little voices drift up to my bed this morning.

luca: "i am not wrong. i am right. you are wrong."

gia: "i am not wrong. you are wrong."

luca: "no, i am not wrong. I AM RIGHT!"

gia: "i am right."

luca: "gia, you are wrong. i am right. i am right because i am older and that makes me right. YOU ARE WRONG."

i have no idea where they get their stubbornness.

how about saturday?

we went to see the midwife today - never thought we would need this appointment at 40.5 weeks. it was possibly our most action packed time at the office - starting with luca's mega-fit in the waiting room, which turned into a punching, scratching, and screaming match while the nurse was checking my weight and blood pressure. fun stuff.

baby boy sounded good, but it seems like he might have decided to plump up this week. according to this midwife (we see a practice of 6 and rotate between them for appointments), the little guy might weigh in bigger than gia's 8lb 9oz. yikes! almost this entire pregnancy we have been told that we were looking at the smallest of our babies. time will tell.

and that time is coming sooner than expected. while at the office, our induction for monday was unable to scheduled. seems like labor and delivery is packed full at the beginning of next week (pre-thanksgiving babies galore). so we were asked, "how about saturday?" as much as i am praying fervently that i can go into natural labor before an induction, i responded, "great."

so, in less than 72 hours we should be meeting our cashew!!!!

the tenth month

just letting you know that we are patiently waiting for this boy. last week was pretty ridiculous. contractions all the time and constant exhaustion. but thursday night they started to subside. upside being i was able to catch up on much needed rest. downside being labor not happening.

this morning i woke up feeling so much better. best night sleep i have had in two weeks. my attitude for this week is much improved as well. i am having fun as a mama, working on christmas gifts, and keeping the house somewhat clean.

on friday, we discussed the possibility of induction with the midwife. the plan is to wait until this coming friday when i am just about 41 weeks. at that time, i will have a nonstress test. for about an hour, i will be hooked up to a monitor checking the baby's resting and active heart rates. i will also have a sonogram to check his movements, the placenta and amniotic fluid levels. depending on what these show, they will either decide to induce then or wait until monday. meaning i have at most one week remaining in this pregnancy. after 40+ weeks, i think i can handle that.

we made it

our due date is here! too bad that doesn't mean much to this little boy. he is still not ready, regardless if we are. :)
